Heya, so first off, let me apologize that FreeIndie 2.0 is taking forever. A lot of people have been e-mailing, asking if I've abandoned the site...Definitely not. We hit a bump in the road: Our programmer disappeared. I sure hope he's OK...
Anyway, a new team just started working on the project. Loads of cool features on the way. Please leave comments with any new features you'd like to see in 2.0, and we'll do our best to throw 'em in the mix.
Until then, I'll be posting more web mixes on the site. If you miss me, head over to the Lime Wire Music Blog (my day job) where I post music news throughout the week.
Also, I found a video I made in college. Enjoy!
If you're an avid reader of the site, you've probably noticed that posting has slowed down significantly. No, it's not because I don't love you. I do love you. Very much. And that is why I've been hard at work (with the help of a great developer) creating FreeIndie Version 2.0. I'm pretty sure it's going to blow your mind. Actually, I'm downright positive.
If you want to make sure you get notice, sign up for the mailing list on the side of the page. I'll make sure that you get an email when version 2.0 is up and running. Until then, enjoy this picture:

Hilly Kristal, the man who created legendary rock club CBGBs, passed away yesterday at the age of 75. The club owner, whose open mind was largely responsible for the NYC punk movement of the mid-70's, had been suffering from lung cancer for the past year. The man gave opportunities to thousands of musicians, and will be missed.
Two years ago, I took a class in Music Entrepreneurship, and one of our assignments was to write about a music entrepreneur who we looked up to. I was going through a serious Ramones phase at the time, and chose to write about Hilly. The paper was a challenge, as credible sources about the man were extremely limited, so I decided to head down to the venue, and do some first hand research. Hilly gladly sat down with me for 15 minutes, and answered all of my questions. He was a slow, yet delightful talker who took care with everything he said. I posted the essay under the cut.
